I get quite emotional when I think about family and how I have become part of my husband's side of the Family, a welcoming change to my own upbringing.
Today we were invited over to Nikki’s and Caiger’s (Paul’s) for a family BBQ. Paul was the master chef with his Ninja BBQ Smoker, and Nikki was the matriarch of making sure everyone was relaxed, had a drink, had plenty to eat and all this before she cared about her own needs.

Lila was the cocktail maker, a very fine one at that; she got the proportions just right and was eager to try different cocktail mixes, a right little professional in the making. Teddy worked alongside Lila as the waiter, delivering countless cocktails and other beverages to everyone. At one stage, he rode on one of the kids’ bikes down the garden, telling everyone he was the Uber, bless.

I have always struggled to fit into a family scene, as believe it or not, I'm withdrawn when it comes to social gatherings, but one thing that the ‘Altons’ have always maintained is the inclusivity of my presence as not just Wayne's husband but also part of the family unit.
