Breathing

There is a lot to be said about breathing and meditation techniques to help you focus more or to calm anxiety, but in order for it to work you have to believe in it, not to think it is some kind of mumbo-jumbo but actually a way to rewire the brain and your thinking.

The most common breathing technique is in through the nose and out through the mouth.

For the beginner with breathing techniques, you start with taking a calm steady breath in for the count of four and then breath out through the mouth for also a count of four and then when you get used to doing this you step things up a gear and breath in for a count of four then out through the mouth for a count of eight.

Most people strugle at first thinking that this is an impossible feat but once you master it you can actuall breath out for a lot longer, too at least the count of ten.

For a more complex and rewarding technique I find that breathing in for a count of four, hold for a count of four, breath out for a count of eight and then hold for a count of four before starting again.

This has helped me greatly in calming my anxiety and also in getting a good nights sleep, I can breath like this for about ten cycles and then I am normally sound a sleep, getting a deep sleep thoughout the night.
